Quality

Elgin’s commitment to quality is more than a policy, it is a constant drive to maintain and improve upon the standards that have allowed the company to retain existing business and attract many new clients over the years.

A thriving apprenticeship programme combined with decades of existing experience has allowed us to transfer to our employees the skills and the sense of pride required to perform consistently to our stringent quality standards.

As an ISO 9001:2008 rated company, we subscribe to the three tier quality system comprising the following elements:

Quality Assurance Policy

Our Quality Assurance policy clearly sets out the terms and objectives of our quest for engineering excellence. The policy details the ways in which Quality will be measured, documented and continually assessed.

Quality Assurance Procedures

Detailed operational procedures have been developed to ensure that Quality is the end result of all of our endeavours. Staff are trained in our Quality procedures which are overseen by a dedicated Quality Manager.

Work Instructions

Quality is in the detail and it is our attention to detail which allows us to ensure that all services rendered to our clients are fit for purpose and delivered on time and to budget. Detailed work instructions precisely define the steps required to follow procedures and thus fulfill the requirements of our Quality Assurance Policy.

SAIW’s Highest Accolade

Southern African Institute of Welding’s (SAIW’s) awarded Elgin Engineering a Gold Medal award in recognition of its achievements in the design and manufacture of equipment for the sugar, petrochemicals and pulp and paper industries. The Gold Medal award, introduced in 1966, is the highest award bestowed by the SAIW in recognition of contributions to welding technology or to the institute itself. The award is not made every year and Elgin Engineering is only the twenty-fifth recipient, receiving the award in 2007.
